Of course, whites don’t have a monopoly on racial scapegoating. Wagoner, 49, joins the likes of Charles Stuart, a white man in Massachusetts who killed his wife and blamed it on an imaginary African American man, and Susan Smith, a white South Carolina woman who wanted to start over with a new man, but not with her old kids, so she drowned her two small children in a lake, and said a black man had carjacked her with the children in the back seat, and Ashley Todd, a white Republican volunteer for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign who carved a backwards “B” in her forehead and blamed it on a black Barack Obama supporter (she used a mirror when carving the “B” and didn’t realize it would be backwards). The chief said Wagoner refused to take a polygraph test but his “story remains unchanged.” That story is now just another sad example of the modern day version of crying wolf: the black guy did it. “But the reality of the coverage is,” Donaghy said, “that a person pretty much has to die for their family to receive that kind of money.” ![]() ![]() The union contract for RTA employees includes a felonious assault insurance policy for $100,000. Biehl said Wagoner owed more than $100,000 in back taxes on about a dozen pieces of property. Wagoner told reporters he had no comment when they knocked on his door after the chief’s news conference.Īs for a possible motive, the chief said he could only speculate since Wagoner had stopped talking to investigators early on in the case. “We don’t believe, certainly,” Biehl said, “based on our ballistics testing, there’s any way possible he could have been shot in the chest in this book and those bullets not go well through that book and into his torso.” The story had everything: crime, race, a middle-aged, out-of-shape working stiff turned superhero and the word of God literally saving a man’s life.īut Dayton’s director and chief of police, Richard Biehl, told Hatewatch “the high probability and likelihood is that this was a staged event.” Just plan an extra half hour if you do.Wagoner's story featured on the Today show Overall I think its one of the better ranges/gun stores in the area and wouldnt hesitate to take a new shooter there. Nice range overall, clean bathrooms, and good inventory. They dont overwhelm anyone with their feelings about certain guns, calibers, politics etc like a some gun stores. They have really nice staff that are very attentive and arent pushy. They also need some additional tables behind the lanes to load ammunition, it can get cramped if its busy. The lanes are not very Long if you are trying to shoot long guns. They also charge an extra $3.00 if youve never shot there before. ![]() Its kind of startling if youre not paying attention they need a better system of calling up people in que. Another odd thing is when a lane opens up they scream out your name. Management is always way to slow to open another register. Everytime Ive been there its taken 20-30 minutes just to get through the line not counting if you have to wait for a lane to open. They usually only have one person behind range/rental counter and its usually the slowest person on the floor. I may start using Miami Armory and another shooting range henceforth. At the end of the day, members or not, we are paying customers as well. I understand the need to take care of your members and to promote increased membership, but you risk doing this at the expense of frequent customers such as myself. In addition to a 20 minute wait in line, I waited an additional 10 minutes to use the range, as one of these members took the last remaining booth. I and seven other people were forced to wait while three members moved to the front of the line to purchase ammunition, ask questions, and use the range. While not a member, I purchased a range pass recently and was waiting in line to use the range yesterday. ![]() This allows card-carrying members to move to the front of the line to use the range, purchase ammunition, and receive customer service. Recently, SPB placed a literal red carpet on the floor leading to their cash register / shooting range check-in counter for members.
